| Overview: |

Another masterpiece from the creations of Taru Fonseca, Sri Lanka's leading architect, the Tamarind Hill is a chic boutique hotel which takes its name from the Tamarind tree in its courtyard. Built in the early 19th century, this former manor house was the residence of a British Admiral and High Court Judge during the days of the Raj before it was refurbished into the stylish boutique hotel it is today. In refurbishing this colonial manor, the designer has taken great care to retain the historical ambience. Beautiful Dutch period antiques and cushioned sofas share space in the long corridors while the white-washed walls are decorated with old maps and modern art alike, creating the perfect fusion between the old and the new. The original mansion houses two suites and there are 10 other well-appointed rooms that encircle a centre grassy courtyard. The landscaped gardens at the rear of the hotel have a stunning infinity pool. |
