One of the oldest and most enchanting beach resorts in Sri Lanka, the Bentota Beach Hotel owns one of the finest stretches of white sand beach on the west coast .Nestled between the Indian Ocean, a pristine beach on one side and a lagoon on the other, the design of the hotel has been influenced by Dutch architecture. It rises in a block of tiers that overlook a large play area and the beach. The rooms are comfortably furnished with all modern amenities and the views they offer- especially higher up on the tiers- are quite spectacular.
There's plenty to do here. The hotel boasts of a sports centre that offers a range of games besides water sports like banana boating, water- skiing, jet-skiing, diving, windsurfing and wave boarding with instructors at hand to help the uninitiated. You could also choose to get on a river boat and go upstream in search of water monitors and crocodiles in the river or look for traditional crafts in the surrounding villages. The Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery in the vicinity offers the unique opportunity of witnessing seasonal turtle egg hatching.
Evenings are filled with activity as well and apart from watching spectacular tropical sunsets, there are a range of entertainment options including the open air discotheque next to the beach, movies that are screened on giant screens and lively karaoke sessions.
