OUR POLICY:
At the Srilanka Travel Centre we has always been firm believers in Responsible Tourism... a belief you will see reflected in our practices and responsible tourism projects. We have always strived to channel the effects of tourism to the betterment of the region. We believe with conviction that tourism should benefit local communities by generating greater economic benefits for the local people, by focusing on sustainable travel and last but not the least by conserving the environment. What makes Srilanka such a delightful destination is the authenticity it provides. As a responsible tour operator who is really passionate about the region, we have always endeavored to promote Srilanka’s true natural highlights and also its many art forms and make it a point to include them in our tours. You will find therefore that all our ground operations (and your actual holiday) are handled by locals (who are such a spirited, warm and enterprising people).
You will find that our tours involve local dance demonstrations, complimentary ayurveda massages, visits to Sri Lanka villages and many such elements that both make your holiday special and also help to generate revenue for the locals.
We also specialise in organising weddings in Sri Lanka where we involve a large number of local resources including l traditional dancers and singers who provide for an authentic Sri Lankan wedding experience. In doing this and other such activities we are thus also able to generate employment.
In doing all this, we endeavour to create a more enjoyable experience for travelers through more meaningful connections with local people, and a greater understanding of local cultural, social and environmental issues.
DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS:
Among other projects, we also donate five percent of our profits to charities which fund education, medical and health operations for underprivileged children and adults in Srilanka.
For travelers interested in getting involved with the local community, you will also find a section called ‘Volunteering projects’ in our portfolio of tours.
