Weddings, Honeymoons & Renewal of Wedding Vows
Congratulations. If you are reading this section, you are either a couple in love planning the first voyage of your new life together as a married couple or a couple in love who rejoice in their marriage which has stood the test of time.

Sri Lanka is rated as one of the most popular destinations for weddings and honeymoons anywhere in the world today. And not without reason. Apart from its palm fringed golden sand beaches, the island provides many other breathtaking locations for organising weddings, enjoying a romantic honeymoon or for celebrating your love on a romantic getaway.

Whether you seek a champagne breakfast in bed, a romantic candlelit dinner in a luxury restaurant overlooking the sea or even a complimentary spa treatment to ease you into relaxation mode, we have sourced some of the choicest locations across the island to turn your romantic sojourn into a memory which will be etched forever in your minds.

Getting Married in Sri Lanka:

It is possible for British nationals to get legally married in Sri Lanka. What’s more, one can plan and organise weddings of any scale for a fraction of the cost of a wedding in the UK. You could choose to get married in traditional Sri Lankan style, opt for a regular Christian wedding or choose a style of your liking.

Getting married according to Sri Lankan traditions involves many fascinating and exciting features. Picture this... a procession with dancers and drummers in colourful attires, wedding singers, red carpets, an elaborately decorated Poruwa (stage), colourfully adorned elephants on which the groom can arrive at the location or for the couple to go away on, fireworks, special treatment for attending friends and family...the list is as exciting as it is endless. Whether you choose to have an elaborate function (Why, you could even hire your own private beach on which to host the wedding) or tie the knot in a quiet function with only close family and friends. You are guaranteed to have an experience of a lifetime.

Our wedding specialists can plan and organise the whole event for you including helping you to choose your location, arranging accommodation for guests, organising rituals and managing the whole event.

You will need to have the following documentation for getting married in Sri Lanka;

  • Valid British passports
  • Birth certificates
  • Affidavit signed by a solicitor
  • If divorced - a decree absolute
  • If widowed - death certificate plus previous marriage certificate
  • If you have changed your name - a deed poll (includes divorcees who have reverted to their maiden name)
  • If under 18, evidence of parental consent in the form of a statutory declaration
  • All documents must be in English and you must have been in Sri Lanka for at least four days before the actual wedding can take place

Honeymoons:
The turquoise blue waters, miles of quiet golden sand beaches, misty mountains blanketed by tea plantations and a myriad of other romantic locations make Sri Lanka a honeymooners dream destination. Walk along the fishing hamlets that line the beaches or experience the amenities and luxury of our many selected honeymoon suites (complete with indoor plunge pools). Imagine candle lit dinners with champagne on the beach with only the sound of the waves to disturb you or being pampered by a couple’s aromatherapy massage. These are but a few of the many features that are included on our honeymoon tours (For details of our honeymoon tours see pages 58-65). We realise that this trip is a celebration of your love and we do everything to make this a special romantic tour. Apart from the choice of some of the finest and most romantic resorts, we have added all the elements that will make your honeymoon memorable.

Renewing your Vows:
More and more happily married couples are celebrating their love by renewing their vows in some of the most romantic destinations in the world. We can organize special ceremonies for you in Sri Lanka where you can renew your wedding vows. With proper rituals accompanied by live musical recitals in some very serene settings, this is a great way to celebrate and strengthen your relationship.
