| Detailed Itinerary : |
Day 01: Arrival Colombo (40 km/1 hr)
Welcomed by Sri Lanka Travel Centre representative at the Bandaranaike International Airport and transferred to your hotel. Check into the majestic Mount Lavinia and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle for transfer)
Day 02: Colombo – Kalwana (140 km/3.5 hr)
Travel to Kalawana today. You will arrive at the beautiful Rain Forest Edge Hotel in the afternoon. Enjoy some fantastic kayaking near the Resort or spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle for transfer)
Day 03: Kalawana
Visit the Singharaja forest early in the morning. The island’s top bio-diversity spot, the Singharaja Forest is home to many endemic species of trees, insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. Enjoy an escorted trek in the forests before returning to your hotel. For those interested, there is another uphill trek of about 1.5 km, providing excellent photo opportunities of various reptiles and insects. The rest of the day is free to enjoy kayaking in the region. Overnight at the resort. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 04: Kalawana – Udawalawe (130 km/3.5 hr)
Travel to Udawalawe. Upon arrival at the Udawalawe National Park, you will board a jeep and travel to your campsite inside the park. Set up camp in the Park and enjoy a ride in the jungle in the afternoon. The Park is an elephant lover’s dream as it is home to the island’s largest elephant population which can be easily spotted due to the lack of forest cover. Overnight in the campsite (vehicle at disposal).
Day 05: Udawalawe
Spend the day spotting elephants and other animals in the national park. Overnight stay in the campsite.
Day 06: Udawalawe – Ella (110 km / 3 hr)
Travel to Ella. On arrival check in to the adventure theme park – Ella Adventure Park. Head to the camp site where all the action takes place. Paragliding, Bird Watching, Trekking, Abseiling & Rappelling, Rock Climbing and Canoeing are just a few of the many activities available to choose from at the Park. Overnight in a tent. (Vehicle for transfer)
Day 07: Ella
The day is free to enjoy the adventure activities available at the park. Experienced and well-trained guides and facilitators are always at hand to ensure your safety. Overnight stay at the adventure park.
Day 08: Ella – Nuwara Eliya (60 km/2 hr)
Travel to Nuwara Eliya in the morning. Aptly known as the ‘Little English Town’, the city was founded by the British as a hill retreat to escape from the warm climate of the lowlands. The region is popular for the lush tea plantations which blanket the mountain ranges. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery as you drive to your hotel atop the hills. Enjoy a guided tea factory tour. Check in to the hotel to spend the rest of the day at leisure. Later tonight you will proceed to the base of the magnificent 7362 ft (2243 M) Adam’s Peak Mountain, where you will begin your ascent (vehicle at disposal).
Day 09: Nuwara Eliya
You will reach the peak of the mountain early in the morning, to witness a glorious sunrise. Return to the base and travel to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Nuwara Eliya – Kitulgala (100 km/ 2.5 hr)
Today you will travel to Kitulgala. The town is situated on the banks of a particularly delightful stretch of the Kelani River with its rock-strewn sections and rapids, often enclosed by high banks of tall bamboo. Kitulgala is rising in popularity as a hot spot for white-water rafting. It was this aspect of the river that led film director David Lean to choose Kitulgala as the location for the bridge construction and destruction scenes in the classic ‘Bridge on the River Kwai’, which was shot entirely on location in the island in 1956. Check in to the Rafters Retreat. Overnight stay in a tree house. (Vehicle for transfer)
Day 11: Kitulgala
Enjoy a white water rafting trip along the river, covering four kilometres and six 2-3 graded rapids. Later you will also take a bicycle tour to visit the pre-historic Belilena Caves and a walk in the pristine “Bandara Kele” forest. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 12: Kitulgala – Negombo (120 km / 3 hr)
Travel to Negombo. Arrive at the Blue Oceanic Beach Resort in the afternoon. Spend the rest of the day at leisure by the beach. Overnight at the resort. (Vehicle for transfer)
Day 13: Negombo
Spend your day at leisure at the sun kissed beaches. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 14: Negombo – Departure (12 km / 20 min)
Departure transfer to the airport for your return flight. (Vehicle for transfer)
