| Detailed Itinerary : |
Day 01: Arrival Colombo and travel to Negombo (12kms/20mnts) Greeted by Sri Lanka Travel Centre representative at the Bandaranaike International Airport and transferred to Negombo where you will check into your hotel. Day at leisure to relax and unwind. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle for the transfer)
Day 02: Negombo– Cultural Triangle (180kms/4hrs) Take a tour of the city of Negombo and its picturesque lagoon before heading to the famed Cultural Triangle.Arrive in Dambulla where you can visit the exquisite cave temple complex with its hundreds of statues of Buddha, delicately painted deities and murals. Check into your hotel for your overnight stay.(Vehicle for transfer)
Day 03: Cultural Triangle Travel to Anuradhapura, the medieval royal capital of Sri Lanka. Established in the 3rd century BC, Anuradhapura flourished for 1,300 years before it was abandoned after an invasion in 993 BC. Today the grandiose remains of the ancient city’s monuments including its marvelous temples, statues and palaces are an unforgettable cultural highlight. Continue to Mihintale where Sri Lanka was introduced to Buddhism and visit the holy mountain dotted with its many temples, lodgings for monks and statues of the Buddha.(Vehicle at disposal)
Day 04: Cultural Triangle Proceed to Polonnaruwa and see the marvellous remains of the medieval capital located by the side of the magnanimous man-made lake “Parakrama Samudraya”. On your way back to the hotel visit the Minneriya National Park, famous for its large herds of elephants which gather around the lakes in the afternoons. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.(Vehicle at disposal)
Day 05: Cultural Triangle – Kandy (80kms/2.5hrs) Today visit the magnificent Sigiriya Rock Fortress, an awe inspiring rock complex sitting atop a 200 m rock outcrop. Built in the 4th century by a tyrant King fleeing exile, this fortress, now rated as the eighth wonder of the world, is an enthralling architectural marvel. You could also visit a spice garden in Matale where many varieties of spices are grown. Continue to Kandy and check in to your hotel for your overnight stay.(Vehicle at disposal)
Day 06: Kandy Travel to Pinnawela to visit the elephant orphanage, which provides shelter to a large number of pachyderms. On your way back to Kandy, you could visit the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya. Upon arrival in Kandy you could take a tour of the city, visit the temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha and later witness a cultural show. Overnight at the hotel.(Vehicle at disposal)
Day 07: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya (80kms/3hrs) Travel to Nuwara Eliya, visiting a tea factory and a plantation on the way. Aptly known as the ‘Little English Town’ the city was founded by the British as a hill retreat to escape from the warm climate of the lowlands. The region is popular for the lush tea plantations which blanket the mountain ranges. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 08: Nuwara Eliya Today visit Horton Plains in the hills which is home to many endemic loris and purple monkeys. Trek along a 14 km stretch and visit the breathtaking Bakers’ Fall and the proverbial ‘World’s End’ which offers one of the best panoramic views in Sri Lanka. Day 09: Nuwara Eliya – Yala (200kms/5.5hrs) Travel to Yala, located in the deep south of the island. Visit the Yala National Park by jeep accompanied by a tracker. The park has a good number of Asian elephants, crocodile, wild boar, water buffaloes and grey langur amongst other animals. Yala also has the world's highest concentration of leopards. Day 10: Yala – Galle – Bentota (200kms/5hrs) Travel along the beautiful southern coastline to Bentota visiting the port city of Galle on your way. This charming Dutch built town and the 17th century fort of Galle offer a fascinating glimpse into the colonial past of the island. Continue to Bentota and check into the hotel for your overnight stay.(Vehicle at disposal)
Day 11: Bentota Day at leisure on the beach. Overnight at the resort.
Day 12: Bentota Enjoy some fascinating excursions in the region. You could visit a turtle hatchery in the area where concerned locals have established protected areas of beach where visiting turtles can lay eggs and the baby turtles can be safely returned to the water after hatching. Day 13: Bentota – Colombo (65kms/2hrs) Travel to Colombo. This highly underrated city boasts a thriving art scene, fantastic culinary delights and high-end brands at bargain prices. Day at leisure to explore Colombo. Overnight at the hotel.(Vehicle at disposal)
Day 14: Colombo – Departure (40kms/1hr) Departure transfer to the airport for your return flight. (Vehicle for transfer)
