| Detailed Itinerary : |
Day 01: Arrival Colombo- Negombo, (12km/20mins) Welcomed by Sri Lanka Travel Centre at the Bandaranaike International Airport and transferred to The Beach Hotel in Negombo. Enjoy a romantic couple’s aromatherapy massage and spend the evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle for the transfer)
Day 02: Negombo You have the entire day to chill out at the beach and soak up the sun. You could also opt to pay a visit to the fishing villages on the coast and the busy fish markets. Mornings are the best time to visit this part of Negombo as the boats bring in the catch and the entire village springs to life. Enjoy the rest of the day by the sea. Overnight at the hotel. Day 03: Negombo – Pinnawela – Sigiriya (185km/ 04hrs) Today you will travel to Pinnawela to visit an elephant orphanage. The orphanage looks after a number of elephants found wounded in the wild or left abandoned by their herds in the jungles. The best time to visit the orphanage is during their meal times where you can participate in the feeding. After the meal, the elephants are herded to the river nearby for their daily wash which is an interesting event to witness.Travel onwards to the famed Cultural Triangle and proceed to Sigiriya where you can check into your hotel and spend the evening at leisure. Day 04: Sigiriya Today you will proceed to visit the magnificent Sigiriya rock fortress, an awe inspiring rock complex sitting atop a 200m rock outcrop. Built in the 4th century by a tyrant king fleeing exile, this fortress- now rated as the eighth wonder of the world- is an enthralling architectural marvel. Later in the afternoon, you will visit Minneriya National Park, famous for its large herds of elephants gathering around the lakes in the afternoons. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 05: Sigiriya – Hatton (180km/ 6hrs) Travel to Hatton. On your way you will visit the cave temple complex in Dambulla, featuring hundreds of exquisitely carved and painted statues including huge reclining Buddhas, delicately painted deities and an array of murals on the walls. Proceed to the lush hills of the tea country. Continue to Hatton and check in to the beautiful Tea Trails Bungalow. Overnight stay.
Day 06: Hatton Today you will take a tour of the city of Nuwara Eliya – Aptly known as the ‘Little English town’, the city was founded by the British as a hill retreat to escape from the warm climate of the lowlands. The region is popular for the lush tea plantations which blanket the mountain ranges. Enjoy a guided tea factory tour. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the bungalow. Day 07: Hatton – Colombo (120kms/04 hrs) Travel to Colombo via Kitulgala, visiting the location where the award winning movie “The Bridge over River Kwai” was filmed. You will arrive in the Commercial Capital in the afternoon. Today you are free to explore Colombo’s myriad offerings of shopping and dining adventures. Colombo offers a thriving art scene, fantastic culinary delights and high-end brands at bargain prices. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle for sightseeing)
Day 08: Colombo – Airport – Male (40 kms/1hr) Departure transfer to the airport for your onward flight to the Maldives. Welcomed by representative at the Male airport and transferred to The Medhufushi Island Resort. Overnight at the resort. (Vehicle for transfer)
Day 09 to Day 13- Male Let the romance, beauty and solitude of this stunning collection of coral islands overwhelm you as you spend a week enjoying yourself on the sun kissed beaches and experiencing the tranquil turquoise waters. The waters here are home to dolphins, sharks, manta rays and turtles and you could enjoy some great diving and snorkeling during your stay.Whether you choose to laze on the hammocks strung between tall exotic palms, explore the crystal clear seas or simply enjoy the comforts of your idyllic luxury villas, the island won’t fail to enchant your senses and leave you with memories of a lifetime.
