| Detailed Itinerary : |
Day 01: Arrival Colombo- Negombo, (12km/20mins) Welcomed by Sri Lanka Travel Centre at the Bandaranaike International Airport and transferred to your hotel in Negombo. Relax and unwind by the beach. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle for the transfer)
Day 02: Negombo – Pinnawela – Cultural Triangle (185km/04hrs) Today you will travel to Pinnawela to visit an elephant orphanage. The orphanage looks after a number of elephants found wounded in the wild or left abandoned by their herds in the jungles. The best time to visit these gentle giants is during their feeding time, which is followed by a two-hour long bath in the river nearby. Travel onwards to the famed Cultural Triangle and check into your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 03: Cultural Triangle Today you can visit the magnificent Sigiriya Rock Fortress, an awe inspiring rock complex sitting atop a 200m rock outcrop. Built in the 4th century by a tyrant King fleeing exile, this fortress- now rated as the eighth wonder of the world- is an enthralling architectural marvel and the climb to the top is not for the faint hearted. Enjoy a rejuvenating Ayurveda massage at the resort. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 04: Cultural Triangle Proceed to Polonnaruwa where you will see the remains of this medieval capital located by the side of the magnanimous man-made lake “Parakrama Samudraya” built by the king Parakrmabahu–I(1153-1186 AD).The remains here include some very memorable creations including the superbly carved buildings and majestic statues at Gal Vihara. A visit to the Pollanuruwa Museum is also a must.On your way back to the hotel, you will visit the Minneriya National Park, famous for its large herds of elephants which gather around the lakes in the afternoons. Day 05: Cultural Triangle – Kandy (80km/2.5hrs) On your way to Kandy, visit the cave temple complex in Dambulla, featuring hundreds of exquisitely carved and painted statues including huge reclining Buddhas, delicately painted deities and an array of murals. Continue to Kandy and check into your hotel. You could take a tour of the city and also visit the temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha. Enjoy a cultural show in town featuring traditional dance performances. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 06: Kandy – Peradeniya – Nuwara Eliya (80km/3hrs) Travel to the lush hills of Nuwara Eliya today. Enroute, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens. Established in the early 1800s, the gardens are spread across 150 acres along Mahaweli River and offers a collection of over 300 species of plants. Continue to Nuwara Eliya – aptly known as the ‘Little English Town’, the city was founded by the British as a hill retreat to escape from the warm climate of the lowlands. The region is popular for the lush tea plantations which blanket the mountain ranges. Enjoy a guided tea factory tour. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 07: Nuwara Eliya Spend the day at leisure in the enchanting hills. You could also enjoy some biking in the hills or escorted nature trails through the tea hills. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 08: Nuwara Eliya – Kitugala- Colombo (260km/5hrs) Travel to Colombo. We have broken your journey down such that you can rest enroute at Kitugala which is famous for being the location where the Oscar winning movie ‘Bridge of the River Kwai’ was filmed. Have a few drinks by the river or even indulge in some white water rafting if you feel adventurous. Proceed to Colombo and check into your hotel. You could spend the evening exploring Colombo’s myriad offerings of shopping and dining adventures.Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle for sightseeing)
Day 09: Colombo – Airport – Male (40km/1hr) Departure transfer to the airport for your onward flight to the Maldives. Welcomed by representative at the Male Airport and transferred to your resort. Let the romance, beauty and solitude of this stunning collection of coral islands overwhelm you as you spend a week enjoying yourself on the sun kissed beaches and experiencing the tranquil turquoise waters. The waters here are home to dolphins, sharks, manta rays and turtles and you could enjoy some great diving and snorkeling during your stay. Whether you choose to laze on the hammocks strung between tall exotic palms, explore the crystal clear seas or simply enjoy the comforts of your idyllic luxury villas, the island won’t fail to enchant your senses and leave you with memories of a lifetime.
