Day 01: Arrival Colombo -Cultural Triangle (180km/4hrs) Greeted by Sri Lanka Travel Centre representative at the Bandaranaike International Airport and transferred to the famed Cultural Triangle which holds many exciting cultural delights in store for you. Check into your hotel, relax and unwind. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle for transfer)
Day 02: Cultural Triangle Today you can visit the spectacular Sigiriya Rock Fortress, an awe inspiring palace- cum- fortress sitting atop a 200m rock outcrop. Built in the 5th century by a tyrant king fleeing exile, the fortress, now rated as the eighth wonder of the world, is a jaw-dropping architectural marvel. Continue to Polonnaruwa, where you will see the grandiose remains of this medieval capital located by the side of the magnanimous man-made lake “Parakrama Samudraya” built by the king Parakrmabahu–I (1153-1186 AD). Enjoy the superbly carved buildings and also the many statues of Buddha. Also visit the Pollanuruwa museum. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 03: Cultural Triangle – Kandy (85km/2.5hrs) Travel to Kandy. Enroute you can visit the cave temple in Dambulla, filled with hundreds of exquisitely carved and painted statues including huge reclining Buddhas, delicately painted deities and an array of murals on the walls. You could also visit a spice garden in Matale, where many varieties of spices are grown. Continue to Kandy and check into your hotel. Enjoy a cultural show in the evening. Overnight at the hotel. Day 04: Kandy Today you can travel to Pinnawela to visit an elephant orphanage. The orphanage provides shelter and care to a large number of inmates found wounded in the forests or abandoned by their herds. Witness the elephants being herded for their daily wash in the river nearby. You could also visit the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya which offer a collection of over 300 species of plants. On your return to Kandy, visit the temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 05: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya (80kms/2.5hrs) Today you will travel to Nuwara Eliya. Aptly known as the ‘Little English Town’, the city was founded by the British as a hill retreat to escape from the warm climate of the lowlands. The region is popular for the lush tea plantations which blanket the mountain ranges. You could take a guided tea factory tour today. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 06: Nuwara Eliya – Colombo (180kms/5hrs) Travel to Colombo through Kitulgala – the location where the award winning movie “The Bridge over River Kwai” was filmed. Those who love adventure could indulge in some white water rafting along the famous river with its graded rapids. Arrive into Colombo in the afternoon and check into your hotel. Day 07: Colombo Day at leisure to explore the city of Colombo. This highly underrated city boasts the perfect union between colonial imperialism and modern sophistication and offers a thriving art scene, fantastic culinary delights and high-end brands at bargain prices. Day 08: Departure- Cochin, Kerala Departure transfer to the airport for your onward flight to Cochin. Greeted by Kerala Travel Centre representative and transferred to your hotel. A port town since early centuries, Cochin, offers you some fascinating snippets of history and culture. Relax and unwind at the hotel. In the evening enjoy a relaxing sunset cruise. DAY 09: Cochin - Houseboat (65kms/1.5hrs) Drive to Alleppey and embark on your private houseboat and cruise on the backwaters, a splendid area full of canals, lakes and coves. Your houseboats or Kettuvalloms are luxurious boats with well appointed bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms. You can sunbathe on the deck or observe the palm fringed landscape from your cabins. Apart from the mesmerizing surroundings, its the life along the coast that makes this a fascinating experience. Overnight on board. (Full Board)
Day 10 & 11: Kumarakom Disembark in Kumarakom, the enchanting backwater region of Kerala and check into your hotel. The labyrinthine network of rivers, canals, streams and lagoons which form the famed backwaters offer stunning views and is an ideal place to relax. Days at leisure. Day 12 & 13: Mararikulam Drive to the picturesque fishermen village of Mararikulam. Check into your resort.
