| Detailed Itinerary : |
Day 01: Arrival Colombo - Kandy (110km/3hrs) Welcomed by Sri Lanka Travel Centre representative at the Bandaranaike International Airport and transferred to Kandy, the hill capital of the island. Set along a scenic lake, Kandy was the last royal seat prior to the British colonization and is a charming hill town with a laid back atmosphere. Check in to your hotel and spend the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle for transfer.)
Day 02: Kandy This morning, travel to Pinnawela to visit an elephant orphanage. The orphanage provides shelter, nourishment and care to a large number of elephants found wounded in the forests, or abandoned by their herds. The best time to visit the orphanage is during the elephant’s meal times, after which they are herded across the road to a nearby river for their daily wash.Later travel to Peradeniya and visit the Royal Botanical Gardens which the hill country is famous for. Established in 1821, the garden occupies nearly 150 acres along the river Mahaweli and has an orchid house offering more than 300 varieties of orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palms trees.Return to Kandy later in the afternoon and take a tour of the hill town. You could visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth and also enjoy a cultural show featuring traditional Kandyan dance performances. Overnight at the hotel (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 03: Kandy -Dickoya (70km /2.5hrs) This morning take an enthralling train journey to Hatton. Ride in the Observation Salon of the “Podi Menike” Express Train bound to Badulla where the tracks navigate countless little viaducts and iron bridges as you travel through lush hills and valleys. Disembark at Hatton station where you will be picked up by your vehicle and transferred further to your tea bungalow in Dickoya, which overlooks the stunning Bogawanthalawa valley. Overnight at the tea bungalow. (Full Board) (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 04 & 05: Dickoya Spend two days exploring the tea plantations. The bungalows are located on working tea estates, offering you a firsthand know-how about how the world’s finest tea is made: from harvesting the leaves by hand and processing it in the nearby factories in a traditional manufacturing process which has remained unchanged for a century. You could also indulge in some mountain biking, guided walks and other excursions during your stay in Dickoya. Overnight at the bungalow. (Full Board)(Vehicle at disposal)
Day 06: Dickoya – Kandapola (60km/2hrs) Leave the tea trails bungalow after breakfast and proceed to the Tea Factory Hotel. One of the few exclusive factory hotels in the world, the Tea factory Hotel, as the name suggests, was originally a tea factory that has now been converted into a luxury hotel with all modern amenities. Set atop a hill, the hotel overlooks enchanting tea plantations and its factory like decor with its machines and pulleys promise to take you into another era.Enroute take a tour of Nuwara Eliya. Set about 2000 meters above sea level, this beautiful town is unquestionably the queen of all hill stations in Sri Lanka. Established by the British in the early 19th century, this verdant town still retains its colonial air and boasts one of Asia’s best golf courses, a race course, a manmade lake and off course miles of lush tea plantations. While in Nuwara Eliya, you could enjoy a round of golf or even go for a horse ride.Arrive at the tea factory hotel in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 07: Kandapola Today you could visit the beautiful Horton Plains, a secluded patch of highland dotted with primrose and daffodil orchids, where many endemic species of birds, monkeys and butterflies can be spotted. A stroll across the plain leads to the ‘World’s end’ – which offer some of the most awe inspiring views on the island. Also enjoy the magnificent Bakers Falls.Later in the afternoon proceed to Ella, which is famous for its stunning views through Ella gap down to the coastal plains, 1000 meters below .Enjoy a cuppa at the Grand Ella Motel amidst miles of green acres that surround it.
