| Detailed Itinerary : |
Day 01: Arrival Colombo (40kms/1hr) Greeted by Sri Lanka Travel Centre representative at the Bandaranaike international airport and transferred to Colombo where you will check into the colonial Galle Face Hotel. Built in 1864, the Galle Face Hotel was the very first hotel in Colombo, and offers stunning views of the Indian Ocean. Relax and unwind. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle for the transfer)
Day 02: Colombo Today visit the city of Colombo – the island’s commercial and colonial capital. Colombo boasts the perfect union between colonial imperialism and modern sophistication. Visit the Millers Building, the Grand Oriental Hotel and many other structures which manifest a colonial era that is yet subtly present, even after 60 years of independence. You could also visit the Dutch Period Museum. The former residence of the Dutch Governor, this imposing white washed mansion still exudes the grandeur of yesteryears. Overnight at the hotel. Day 03: Colombo – Kandy (120kms/3hrs) Today you will travel to Kandy. Enroute you could visit the elephant orphanage in Pinnawela which provides shelter to a number of elephants found wounded or left abandoned in the wild. On arrival in Kandy, check into the grand Kandy House. Built in 1804, the Kandy House was the ancestral home of an aristocratic family which was renovated carefully to incorporate stylish modern amenities. Overnight at the Kandy House. Day 04: Kandy Today you will visit the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya in the morning and tour the city of Kandy in the afternoon. You can also pay a visit to the temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha and witness a cultural show in town. Overnight at the Kandy House. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 05: Kandy Day at leisure. You could also take a trip into town and explore the many antique shops. Overnight at the Kandy House. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 06: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya (80kms/3hrs) Travel to Nuwara Eliya, visiting a tea factory and a plantation on the way. Check in to the Hill Club. Built in 1876 by a British coffee planter, the club is privately operated now but still retains its historical feel at the same time provides modern amenities. Overnight at the Hill Club. Day 07: Nuwara Eliya Take a tour of Nuwara Eliya. Aptly called the ‘little English town’, Nuwara Eliya was founded by the English as a hill retreat to escape from the warm weather of the lowlands. It is popular for the lush tea plantations which blanket the mountain ranges. The English architecture, the inglenook fireplaces, well manicured gardens and paved walkways bear testimony to the British era that ended not too long ago. Overnight at the Hill Club. Day 08: Nuwara Eliya – Galle (250kms/7hrs) Travel to Galle, located in the southwestern coast of the island. Check into the magnificent Dutch House. Built in 1712 as a farm house by the Dutch, this stunning retreat offers just four spacious suites and a beautiful swimming pool. Rooms with high ceilings, four poster beds, ensuite bathrooms and antique furniture will take you into another era. Overnight at the Dutch House. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 09: Galle Today you can visit the historical city of Galle. One of Sri Lanka’s finest colonial-era show pieces, this Dutch built town and the 17th century fort of Galle offer a fascinating glimpse into the colonial past of the island. Huge bastions and ramparts enclose the quaint town with its narrow streets, old villas and offer mesmerizing sunset views across the Indian Ocean.Overnight at the Dutch house. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 10: Galle Day at leisure to relax and enjoy by the pool. You could also choose to take an excursion into town or go to a nearby beach. Overnight at the Dutch House. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 11: Galle – Mount Lavinia (116kms/3hrs) Leave Galle around mid day and travel to Colombo. The journey along the western coast will take you through the stunning regions of Hikkaduwa, Bentota and Kalutara, popular for their golden beaches. Check into the majestic Mount Lavinia Hotel, the former residence of a British Governor Sir Thomas Maitland. Combining imperial elegance and modern comforts, the hotel offers some grand colonial architecture and extensive beach frontage. Overnight at the hotel.
Days 12 & 13: Mount Lavinia Spend two days at leisure in this beautiful colonial hotel and enjoy the hotel’s beautiful private beach. You could also explore Colombo’s myriad offerings of shopping and dining adventures. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
