| Detailed Itinerary : |
Day 01: Arrival Colombo (12kms/20mns) Greeted by Sri Lanka Travel Centre representative at the Bandaranaike International Airport and transferred to your hotel. Spend your first day at leisure relaxing and unwinding by the beach. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle for the transfer)
Day 02: Negombo – Kandy (125kms/3hrs) After breakfast, travel to Pinnawela to visit an Elephant orphanage. This orphanage is probably the only one of its kind in South Asia, providing shelter, nourishment and care to a large number of elephants found wounded in the forests, or abandoned by their herds. The best time to visit the orphanage is during their meal times where you can participate in the feeding. After the meal, the elephants are herded to the river nearby for their daily wash which is an interesting event to witness. Travel onwards to Kandy and check into your hotel for your overnight stay. Day 03: Kandy After breakfast, enjoy a family biking tour of the city of Kandy. You could visit the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya later. You could also visit the temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha in Kandy and enjoy a cultural show in the evening. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 04: Kandy – Badulla – Ella Today you will embark on an enchanting toy train journey through the beautiful hills. Ride in the Observation Salon of the “Podi Menike” Express Train bound to Badulla where the tracks navigate countless little viaducts and iron bridges as you travel through lush hills and valleys. Disembark at Badulla from where you will be picked up and transferred to Ella. Enroute you could also enjoy a guided tea factory tour to get firsthand knowledge of how tea is made; from the handpicking of the leaves to its processing.Check in to the Ella Adventure Park. Overnight at the adventure park.
Day 05: Ella Day at leisure to explore the exciting activities available for kids and adults alike at the Adventure Park. Childrens’ water sports, bird watching, nature treks, hikes through traditional rural villages and many other activities are available at the adventure park. For adventurous adults there is also scope for activities like canoeing, rock climbing etc. Experienced and well trained guides and facilitators are always at hand to ensure your safety. Overnight at the adventure park.
Day 06: Ella – Bentota (200kms/5hrs) After breakfast travel along scenic routes to Bentota – the popular seaside resort on the west coast of the island. You can stop enroute at Ratnapura. The aptly named “Ratnapura” means the City of Gems, and is famous for its multitudes of gem pits which produce some magnificent precious and semi precious stones cherished the world over. On arrival in Bentota check into the Bentota Beach Hotel for your overnight stay.
Day 07 and 08: Bentota Spend two days at leisure at the resort for beach activities. Check out the water sports centres nearby or enjoy a visit to a turtle hatchery where concerned locals have established protected areas of beach on which visiting turtles can lay eggs and where baby turtles can be safely returned to the water after hatching. You will enjoy a boat ride in the lagoon later in the afternoon. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 09: Bentota – Colombo (65kms/2hrs) Leave the hotel around lunch time and travel along the western coast to Colombo. Check into the Mount Lavinia Hotel late in the afternoon and take a tour of the city later in the day. Colombo also offers some fantastic options for shopping with excellent treats for the whole family. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 10: Colombo – Departure (40kms/1hr) Departure transfer to the airport for your return flight. (Vehicle for transfer)
