| Detailed Itinerary : |
Day 01: Arrival Colombo - Negombo (12km/20mnts) Welcomed by Sri Lanka Travel Centre representative at the Bandaranaike International Airport and transferred el to Negombo. Check into your hotel, relax and unwind. Enjoy a relaxing boat ride in the evening. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle for the transfer)
Day 02: Negombo Today you will visit the fishing villages on the coast and the busy fish markets. Mornings are the best time to visit this part of Negombo as the boats bring in the catch and the entire village springs to life. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. Day 03: Negombo – Cultural Triangle (180km/4hrs) Travel to the Cultural Triangle where many cultural delights await you and check into your hotel. Enjoy an elephant ride in Habarana in the afternoon. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 04: Cultural Triangle Have an early breakfast and proceed to visit the spectacular Sigiriya rock fortress, an awe inspiring palace- cum- fortress sitting atop a 200m rock outcrop. Built in the 5th century by a tyrant king fleeing exile, the fortress, now rated as the eighth wonder of the world, is an architectural marvel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Day 05: Cultural Triangle After an early breakfast, proceed to visit the Minneriya National Park by jeep accompanied by a tracker for a safari ride. The park is famous for its large herds of elephants that congregate near the lakes to drink. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 06: Cultural Triangle – Kandy (80km/4hrs) Travel to Kandy and enroute you will visit the cave temples in Dambulla, filled with hundreds of exquisitely carved and painted statues of Buddha. Continue to Kandy and check into your hotel on arrival. Later in the day take a biking tour of the city and visit the temple of the sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. You can also enjoy a cultural show. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 07: Kandy Travel to Pinnawela to visit the elephant orphanage, which provides shelter, nourishment and care to a large number of inmates found wounded in the forests, or abandoned by their herds. You could participate in the feeding of the elephants and also watch them being herded to the river for their daily wash. On your way back to Kandy you will visit the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 08: Kandy – Badulla – Yala Today you will take an enchanting toy train journey through the hills to Badulla before proceeding to Yala. Ride in the Observation Salon of the “Podi Menike” Express Train bound to Badulla where the tracks navigate countless little viaducts and iron bridges as you travel through lush hills and valleys. Disembark at Badulla from where you will be picked up and transferred to Yala. Evening at leisure. Check in to the hotel for overnight stay. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 09: Yala Enjoy a jungle safari at the Yala National Park today which is famous for its leopards. The best time to spot a leopard is early in the morning and then again at dusk. It’s not uncommon to see male leopards walking confidently along the tracks during the day providing excellent photo opportunities.
Day 10: Yala – Galle – Bentota (200kms/5hrs) Travel along the southern coastline to Bentota, visiting the port city of Galle on your way. One of Sri Lanka’s finest colonial-era show pieces, this Dutch built town and the 17th century fort of Galle offer a fascinating glimpse into the colonial past of the Island.Continue to Bentota and visit a turtle hatchery on your way in Kosgoda where concerned locals have established protected areas of beach on which visiting turtles can lay eggs and where baby turtles can be safely returned to the water. Check into the hotel for overnight stay. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day 11 & 12: Bentota Days at leisure at the resort for beach activities. There are several water sports centres nearby which offer a variety of activities such as diving, snorkelling, boat rides and fishing. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 13: Bentota – Colombo (65kms/2hrs) Enjoy breakfast and relax in the morning. Checkout from the hotel around lunch time and travel along the western coast to Colombo. Check into the hotel and take a tour of the city later in the day. Colombo also offers some fantastic options for shopping with excellent treats for the whole family. Overnight at the hotel. Day 14: Bentota – Departure (105kms/2.5hrs) Leave the hotel to the airport in time for departure. (Vehicle for transfer).
